Niji No Misaki – Camping At a Japanese Festival, May 3,4,5 2025

Images from Niji No Misaki, 2025.

Getting there:

We got a little lost along the way. “Took a wrong turn at Albuquerque”. Still made it there in one piece. This is not an essay. It’s a collection of my photographs, taken with a beloved 2006 Nikon D40 with an antique “nifty-fifty” 50mm lens. (See our post: Incredible DSLR Cameras For Pennies On The Dollars .)

Some of you may not have seen my videos. Some of you have seen my live work. (Thanks for coming out to the TeePee, and Shin’s Organic Coffee Shop, where we played informally. So much fun.) But if you haven’t seen the videos, you can see them at Colin D. Cochrane – the YouTube Channel. I’d start with Billionaire Debris, and work back through. Please like, subscribe, and leave a comment!

Since we shoot manual – which means there is no draw for auto-focus, or really anything other than displaying the information – and in raw, we were able to shoot over 200 images in this one weekend, and we still have a lot of juice. I was worried about running out of battery, but I’ve been using this battery for over 3 weeks, and to my astonishment, there is still half a charge left. Here are my images:

These are just a few. I have a lot, especially kids, but I’m waiting for the go-ahead from their folks. I try to get permission at the time, but it’s difficult. At any rate, if you have any issues, or feel like it might be okay, you can drop me a line at Colin.

We sure hope you enjoy these.

All the best,

Colin.
